Potters Bar Town 2 0 Wingate & Finchley

FIRST HALF

For the last game of the season Potters had a few issues with team selection with Kevin Baffour (illness), Frankie Lane (injury) & keeper Greg Marsh (injury) all missing out.

Potters had the best possible start when straight from KO when Liam Magwood intercepted a back pass from the Wingate right back & slotted past the keeper to score after 6 seconds of the game 1-0

The rest of the half was a midfield battle on a very bumpy pitch and credit to both teams for trying to play on a difficult surface.

Neither team created any chances for the rest of the half.

SECOND HALF

Wingate came out strongly for the second half and created 3 good chances in the first 10 minutes without really testing the Potters keeper as Potters struggled with the new formation picked at HT.

again same as the first half both teams battled in the midfield to gain the upper hand without creating chances with Wingate on top.

Against the run of play Potters had a chance to extend there lead when Magwood had a shot across the keeper who pulled off a good save.

Then on 82 minutes defender Joe Hill drove out with the ball from the back played a give and go in the midfield then played a brilliant ball over the top of Wingates defence for Liam Magwood to accelerate away from the central defender and hit a first time shot, the Wingate keeper got both hands to it but could not prevent it from going in 2-0

With 1 minute to go Joe Hill spoiled his night with a needless foul on the touch line to get his second yellow of the night and an early shower.

From the resulting free kick Potters keeper James Cattlin pulled off his only difficult save of the night wen the ball was arrowing into the top corner and he safely tipped it over.
